Overall I’d say it’s a terribly difficult needle to thready, and just like the Remake proper, they did it. You get the bratty and obnoxious Yuffie, while also giving her way more room to grow and emote, all while keeping the true character growth for her later down the line. Past what you get to play here (which I didn’t even amazing the addictive and fun Fort Condor) you have a really solid story that ties Yuffie better into the events of FF7 and wherever she’ll end up being come the second part of the Remake. I think this expansion doesn’t undermine any of that either! Partly because the whole game is available to the player at 60fps now, meaning everything feels better across the board, but also, Yuffie’s unique and extremely fun abilities make sense for her, and further her character. Everything she has available to her feels fresh, new, and builds on what made gameplay in the original FF7R combat so great. ![]() The additional “synergy” mechanic with Sonon is simple, effective, and just super fun. Her kit is great for range, for close quarters, and for any elemental weakness on the fly. It’s here! The next two chapters of Final Fantasy VII Remake are here, and even if they’re just DLC expansion that comes along with the PS5 upgrade of FF7R, it’s absolutely still worth talking about.
